My 100 Demons began in 2021, and I completed the 100 drawings in the series in 2023. The title of these works on paper is inspired in part by the pre-modern Japanese folkloric tradition ‘The Night Parade of 100 Demons’ when supernatural creatures explode into the human world at night and create pandemonium. My demons are like creatures from a ghostly psychic netherworld, embodying fleeting thoughts or feelings that hover between the tangible and intangible. Characters that if unchecked, might wreak havoc on an interior - or possibly exterior - world. They give form to something ethereal; ghoulish yet endearing.
